Grigor Yeghiazaryan is one of the founders of the contemporary Armenian composing school. Alexander Ajemyan, Emin Aristakesyan, Grigor Hakhinyan, Edgar Hovhannisyan, Geghuni Chitchian, Martun Israyelyan and many other composers are among his students.
During the 5 concerts held within the framework of the festival, a number of chamber works by Yeghiazaryan, his students and Armenian composers were re-evaluated.
During the five concerts, the Armenian audience had the opportunity to enjoy more than thirty compositions by 25 Armenian composers. Each of the concerts was a unique opportunity to enjoy the works of Armenian composers in the chamber format. It is noteworthy that some of the compositions were even forgotten.
By the initiative and direct attention of the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra Sergey Smbatyan, the notes kept in different archives and creators’ bookstores are used in concert programs.
This year the 9th Armenian Composers’ Art Festival was entitled as Grigor Eghiazaryan-Fest. One of the key goals of the festival was to record the performed compositions, and the organizers succeeded in doing this.
